Abstract: A convertible phalangeal joint implant assembly (100) for selective use in both finger and toe phalangeal joint replacements. The assembly (100) comprises a male stem (102), a male head (104), a female stem (106) and a female head (108). The female includes a receiving slot (228) that houses the male head (104). The male head (104) and the female head (108) include an alignable first pin slot (202) and second pin slot (204) that accommodate a hinge pin (206), enabling articulating movement for finger phalangeal joint replacements. Additional third pin slot (208) and the fourth pin slot (210) in the male head (104) and the female head (108) can selectively receive a locking pin (212) to convert the assembly (100) from an articulating configuration to a rigid configuration, making it suitable for toe phalangeal joint replacements.
