MUMBAI, India, July 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641081368 A) filed by Jain Deemed-To-Be University on July 01, 2026, for Convergent Helical Intake Nozzle For An Internal Combustion Engine.
Inventors include Dr. I. Kantharaj; and Prashant Umesh Chodankar.
The application for the patent was published on July 10, 2026, under issue no. 28/2026.
Abstract: A convergent helical intake nozzle for an internal combustion engine, comprises a tubular body 101 having an inlet end and an outlet end, where the inlet end has larger flow area than the outlet end, a convergent internal passage 201 extending from the inlet end to the outlet end, the convergent internal passage 201 being configured to increase velocity of intake air flowing through the tubular body 101, a plurality of helical grooves extending along at least a portion of the airflow path, wherein the helical grooves 102 being configured to impart a controlled swirl to the intake air passing through the convergent internal passage 201, wherein the convergent internal passage 201 and helical grooves 102 cooperate to increase intake air velocity and turbulence before entry of intake air into the engine, thereby improving air fuel mixing and cylinder filling in the internal combustion engine.
