Abstract: The present invention discloses a controlled-release polymeric spray formulation designated as C-GlucoDerm-Poly developed for topical management of diabetic foot ulcers. The formulation comprises an aqueous leaf extract of Psidium guajava incorporated into a chitosan—alginate polyelectrolyte complex along with pharmaceutically acceptable stabilizing and viscositymodifying agents. The ionic interaction between chitosan and alginate results in formation of a structured polymeric network capable of modulating release kinetics of plant-derived bioactive constituents. The formulation demonstrates sustained release behavior, antioxidant activity, antimicrobial efficacy against wound-associated pathogens, and cytocompatibility with mammalian skin cell lines under in vitro conditions. The spray delivery format ensures uniform application and supports maintenance of a moist wound environment. The invention provides a stable, scalable, and non-invasive therapeutic platform suitable for controlled- release diabetic foot ulcer management.
