The tip (304) is adapted to be heated for welding an impact region (112). A power converter (104) is provided in electrical connection with the handheld welding gun (114). The power converter (104) is adapted to convert alternating current supply from a mains source (102) to a direct current supply to the handheld welding gun (114). A regulator (106) is provided in electrical connection with the power converter (104) and the handheld welding gun (114). The regulator (106) is adapted to regulate the current supply to the handheld welding gun (114).
