Abstract: A surgical suturing apparatus (100) is disclosed, comprising a handle assembly (101), a shaft (107) extending distally from the handle assembly (101) to a distal end portion (109), and a first jaw (111) and a second jaw (113) coupled to the distal end portion (109) and configured to articulate between an open configuration for tissue engagement and a closed configuration in which the first jaw (111) and the second jaw (113) interlock to form a continuous guide track (117) receiving a needle (115). The needle (115) is driven continuously across a join of the first jaw (111) and the second jaw (113) without manual hand off, maintaining uninterrupted mechanical capture of the needle (115) throughout a 360° travel path. A tensioning spool and slip clutch regulate suture tension, and a bioabsorbable fastener and cutter blade terminate the suture, within the distal end portion (109). FIG.1
