MUMBAI, India, June 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641072291 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on June 10, 2026, for Context-Aware Predictive Privacy Protection Device For Selective Display Protection Using Ambient Sensing.
Inventors include Muthunagai; and Nimish Sharma.
The application for the patent was published on June 19, 2026, under issue no. 25/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a context-aware predictive privacy protection device configured to dynamically detect and mitigate privacy exposure risks using ambient environmental sensing and application-aware contextual analysis. The device acquires environmental observations using a passive infrared sensing arrangement and an ultrasonic proximity sensing arrangement configured to detect nearby human presence without biometric identification. Contextual environmental parameters and application sensitivity information are processed to compute a situational privacy risk score representing the probability of unauthorized visual exposure. Upon detection of elevated privacy risk, adaptive display protection including selective visual overlay generation, interface masking, blurring, and brightness reduction is automatically enforced for privacy-sensitive display regions while preserving normal user interaction. The device further incorporates temporal behavioural analysis for predictive observer detection and proactive privacy protection. The invention provides lightweight, scalable, non-intrusive, and application-scoped privacy protection suitable for pervasive computing and shared digital environments.
