MUMBAI, India, Oct. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621098864 A) filed by Rohit Pareek on August 15, 2026, for Context-Aware Electro-Mechanical Firearm Safety Interlock System And Method For Real-Time Discharge Regulation.
Inventor includes Rohit Pareek.
The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a context-aware safety interlock system (100) for firearms. The system includes an optical sensor array (102) aligned with a firearm bore (112), an onboard Edge Processing Unit (104) comprising an embedded Neural Processing Unit (104b), and an electro-mechanical actuator assembly (106) coupled to a mechanical firing train (204, 206). The Edge Processing Unit executes real-time computer vision inference on image streams to detect human subjects and extract skeletal keypoints. Upon determining that a target within the ballistic trajectory matches predefined discharge-inhibition criteria—such as juvenile anthropometrics, non-hostile surrender postures (raised hands), or geofenced exclusionary safety zones—the processor commands the actuator to project a blocking lug (106b) into the kinematic path of the sear within 15 milliseconds. The system mechanically neutralizes trigger pulls against protected target classes in real time without external network reliance. (FIG. 1)
