The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a context-aware behavioral fingerprinting system for continuous authentication of heterogeneous Internet of Things (IoT) devices. The system continuously acquires device-specific behavioral characteristics including communication patterns, packet transmission characteristics, temporal behavior, protocol usage, device interactions, resource utilization, and operational states, together with contextual information such as time, location, network conditions, device state, workload, environmental conditions, and interaction conditions. The acquired information is processed to extract behavioral and contextual features and generate a dynamic behavioral fingerprint for each IoT device. A context-aware behavioral modeling engine establishes a device-specific baseline profile and continuously compares subsequently observed behavior with the corresponding profile. An authentication confidence score is generated based on behavioral similarity, contextual consistency, and temporal continuity. Significant deviations from the established behavioral profile are analyzed to identify potentially unauthorized, compromised, spoofed, or cloned devices. The system further supports adaptive updating of legitimate behavioral profiles while preventing unauthorized behavioral changes from contaminating the established profile. The invention thereby provides continuous, adaptive, non-intrusive, and context-sensitive authentication of heterogeneous IoT devices without relying exclusively on static credentials or one-time authentication mechanisms.
