A provisional reversal controller (120) creates a pending-return state; a position-assignment module (150) selects a feasible receiving position (180) of a detachable ordered-return organizer (170) and communicates the position to the shopper. Conditional upon a position-linked confirmation at interface (160), the item is removed from the payable transaction and a custody record is created in a return-custody ledger (190), which withholds shelf availability until staff records restocking or an exception.
