MUMBAI, India, Oct. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641115708 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on September 28, 2026, for Confidence-Weighted Opinion Lineage System For Self-Correcting Sentiment Aggregation And Selective Provenance-Based Historical Correction.

Inventors include M. Ranjith Kumar; Samridhi Vibhanshu; and Rakshit Ratan Pathak.

The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.

Abstract: A computer-implemented system and method are disclosed for determining organic sentiment from opinion-bearing textual data containing independently originating opinions and derivative or amplified expressions. The system processes textual records using semantic and provenance information and constructs an Opinion-Lineage Graph representing relationships among original opinions, reposts, quotations, paraphrases, duplicates, coordinated content, and other derivative expressions. Independent opinion contributions are distinguished from amplification contributions to generate an organic sentiment representation. The system further stores reusable analytical state associated with processed records and their derivation lineages. When a provenance, authenticity, reliability, or source-dependence state associated with a previously processed record is subsequently revised, the system identifies the affected derivation lineage and selectively corrects the corresponding stored sentiment aggregate. The correction is performed without re-executing semantic representation or sentiment classification for unaffected records and without requiring full-corpus historical reprocessing, thereby reducing computational processing associated with provenance-driven analytical corrections
