Abstract: ABSTRACT CONFIDENCE-ADAPTIVE ACTUATOR STABILIZATION FOR EMBEDDED SYSTEMS A computer-implemented method for stabilizing actuator control in a microcontroller-based embedded system comprises acquiring, by firmware (100) executed on a microcontroller (10), sensor input signals from at least one sensor (20), tracking temporal variability of the sensor input signals by monitoring a frequency of state transitions and an intensity of short-term fluctuations over an observation interval, and computing a dynamic confidence metric based on the tracked temporal variability representing a stability of a detected system state. The method comprises determining an actuation decision based on the dynamic confidence metric, wherein the actuation decision comprises allowing actuator triggering when the dynamic confidence metric satisfies a confidence threshold, delaying actuator triggering when the dynamic confidence metric partially satisfies the confidence threshold, or suppressing actuator triggering when the dynamic confidence metric falls below the confidence threshold, and controlling an actuator (30) in accordance with the actuation decision.
