MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641110854 A) filed by S S Imambi; Azmira Krishna; and Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation on September 16, 2026, for Computerized Classification Of Ct Lung Images Using Cnn With Watershed Segmentatio.
Inventors include S S Imambi; Azmira Krishna; and Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation.
The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a computerized system for automatic classification of Computed Tomography (CT) lung images using image processing and deep learning techniques. The invention comprises image acquisition, Gaussian filtering, Watershed segmentation, texture feature extraction and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) based classification. Initially, CT scan images are preprocessed using Gaussian filtering to remove unwanted noise while preserving important image details. Watershed segmentation is subsequently employed to accurately identify suspicious lung regions. Texture features extracted from the segmented regions are supplied to a Convolutional Neural Network for automatic learning and classification. The proposed integrated framework improves classification accuracy, reduces false detections and assists radiologists in early diagnosis of lung cancer. The invention is applicable in hospitals, diagnostic centers, and computer-aided diagnosis systems for efficient medical image analysis.
