MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641112659 A) filed by Saanvi Raghavendran on September 20, 2026, for Computer-Implemented System And Method For Training-Free, Parameter-Based Musical Raga Identification And Deviation-Grounded Ai Coaching Feedback Generation.
Inventor includes Saanvi Raghavendran.
The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: The present invention discloses a computer-implemented system and method for identifying the musical raga of an acoustic performance and generating grounded AI coaching feedback. The system extracts pitch, 12-bin chroma vectors, and spectral features from an audio recording. A deterministic scoring engine evaluates the extracted features against admin-editable reference raga profiles without using trained machine-learning classifiers. Key invariance is achieved by calculating cosine similarity across all twelve cyclic tonic shifts. The scoring engine computes a weighted match score combining key-invariant chroma similarity (45%), graduated pitch parameter ranges (30%), Vadi/Samvadi note prominence (25%), and a subtractive penalty for forbidden notes. Calculated per-parameter deviations are combined with raga reference data to construct a structured grounding payload for a large language model. The language model returns structured coaching feedback wrapped in a bounded exponential-backoff retry handler for transient API error recovery.
