The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: The present invention provides a compressed-air-assisted water-mist fire suppression system for a railway vehicle. The system utilises an existing railway pneumatic infrastructure comprising an air compressor, a main air reservoir and a primary brake pneumatic circuit. A fire suppression pneumatic branch includes an isolation valve, pressure regulator, check valve and pressure-priority valve, followed by an auxiliary air receiver and an air solenoid valve connected to one or more air-assisted water-mist nozzles. A separate water circuit comprises a water tank, water filter, water pump, water solenoid valve and water regulator. Smoke, heat and flame detectors provide signals to a control unit, which actuates the air and water solenoid valves upon detection of a fire condition or manual release. Compressed air and water are delivered to the air-assisted water-mist nozzles for generation of water mist in a protected railway compartment. The pressure-priority valve restricts or isolates the fire suppression pneumatic branch when the pressure associated with the primary brake pneumatic circuit approaches or falls below a predetermined safety threshold, thereby maintaining priority of the railway braking pneumatic function.
