Abstract: Composition of Herbiotic granules for the management of MAFLD and its formulation process Abstract The present invention relates to a herbiotic pharmaceutical composition for the management of metabolic dysfunction associated fatty liver disease. The composition comprises a herbal extract of Halophila beccarii, Camellia sinensis, Allium sativum, and Linum usitatissimum, and a probiotic mixture comprising viable Lactobacillus and Bifidobacteria species. The herbal extract is prepared by aqueous Soxhlet extraction using distilled water as an extraction solvent. The herbal extract is further blended with probiotic mixture preferably in weight ratios of 70:30 and 80:20 by wet granulation using water as granulating agent to form substantially uniform granules. The composition is useful for the management of metabolic dysfunction associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD). The toxicological evaluation in Male C57BL/6J mice demonstrated the safety of the composition for oral administration. Further, in high fat diet and streptozotocin induced MAFLD mice model, the composition exhibited including hepatoprotective, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, insulin sensitizing activities and demonstrated enhanced therapeutic efficacy compared to probiotic treatment alone.
