Abstract: The present invention provides a composition for coating agricultural seeds with agriculturally important microorganisms. A composition according to the present invention provides stabilization and viability of agriculturally important microorganisms in the coating of stored seeds, resulting in long shelf life. The present invention further provides a method for preparing a composition for coating seeds with viable microorganisms, as well as a method for coating seeds with a composition according to the present invention. The agriculturally important microorganisms according to the present invention possess multiple biological functions, including but not limited to plant growth promotion, nutrient mobilization, and control of phytonematodes and phytopathogens.
