Abstract: The present invention relates to a nutraceutical composition comprising one or more phytosterols and ß-glucan in amounts and proportions effective to provide a combined physiological effect comprising improvement in cholesterol profile, moderation of post-prandial glycaemic response, and maintenance or improvement of digestive function. The combination provides an enhanced multi-parameter physiological effect relative to phytosterol or ß-glucan individually and, in certain embodiments, a synergistic multi-parameter physiological effect. The composition may be incorporated into foods, beverages, dietary supplements, nutritional products and medical nutrition products. The phytosterols and ß-glucan may be incorporated together or separately, at the same or different stages of preparation or processing, thereby enabling incorporation into different consumable matrices.
