MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202642113397 A) filed by Triveni Turbine Limited; and Indian Institute Of Science on September 22, 2026, for Compact Heat Engines For Waste Heat Recovery.
Inventors include Lakshminarayanan Seshadri; Jayesh Gupta; Pramod Kumar; and Bhaskar Thirthapura Ramaswamy.
The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: An energy recovery system is described. The energy recovery system includes a first multi-stream heat exchanger that converts a partially heated fluid to a high temperature fluid, while generating a partially cooled waste heat stream. A first fluid expander expands the high temperature fluid to a first expanded fluid. The first multi-stream heat exchanger transfers heat to the first expanded fluid to generate a first heated fluid. The second fluid expander expands the first heated fluid to an expanded fluid. A multi-stream heat exchanger transfers heat from the expanded fluid and the partially cooled waste heat stream to a high-pressure low temperature fluid to generate the partially heated fluid, while cooling the expanded fluid to a partially cooled fluid. The partially cooled fluid is cooled and pressurized to generate the high-pressure low temperature fluid. A method of operating the energy recovery system is also described.
