Abstract: ABSTRACT Compact Automated Apparatus for Fruit and Vegetable Cleaning Using Ozone Diffusion and UV-C Sterilization This invention describes a compact, automated apparatus for cleaning and disinfecting vegetables and fruits through a dual-action process involving ozone gas and ultraviolet-C (UV-C) radiation. The apparatus comprises an opaque, food- grade HDPE housing with a hinged lid and safety sensors, a lower water chamber fitted with a diffuser for uniform ozone dispersion, and a removable perforated tray for holding produce. Integrated UV-C lamps mounted on the inner walls enhance microbial disinfection by deactivating bacteria, viruses, and fungi. A front-mounted control panel with power, mode selection, and timer functions enables easy operation, offering preset cycles for gentle, medium, or deep cleaning. The enclosed chamber ensures user safety by preventing UV exposure and ozone leakage. Designed to reduce water wastage, eliminate chemical cleaning agents, and extend produce shelf life, the system provides an eco-friendly, low- maintenance, and cost-effective solution suitable for households and small-scale institutional kitchens.
