Abstract: ABSTRACT COMMUNITY-DRIVEN LANGUAGE DATA COLLECTION AND PROCESSING SYSTEM A language data collection system (100) comprises a processing unit (102) housed within an enclosure (124) having waterproof and dust-resistant properties, a microphone (104) coupled to the processing unit (102) for receiving audio input, an audio output (106) coupled to the processing unit (102) for providing audio playback, a display (108) coupled to the processing unit (102) for presenting multilingual instructions, a user input (110) coupled to the processing unit (102) for receiving user selections, a local storage (112) coupled to the processing unit (102) for storing audio recordings and metadata, a solar panel (114) for charging a rechargeable battery (116) that powers the system (100), and a USB interface (118) coupled to the processing unit (102) for enabling offline data transfer to a central database (126). The processing unit (102) automatically attaches metadata comprising time, date, and a language identifier to each audio recording.
