Abstract: A communication method and a related device, which are used for an implementation approach in which, when an integrated access and backhaul (IAB) node supports a mobile IAB mode and an IAB mode, an IAB node, or a donor node, or a core network element is used as a determiner for determining a working mode of the IAB node, so that the working mode of the IAB node can be flexibly selected to be one of the mobile IAB mode and the IAB mode, so as to improve the communication flexibility of the IAB node in an IAB network. In the method, an IAB node determines that a radio resource control (RRC) connection between the IAB node and a donor node has not been established, or determines that the IAB node has established an RRC connection with the donor node and the working mode of the IAB node is a mobile IAB mode, or determines that the IAB node has established an RRC connection with the donor node; the IAB node determines that the working mode of the IAB node is one of the mobile IAB mode and an IAB mode.
