Abstract: Embodiments of the present application provide a communication method and device. The communication method is applied to a basic service set (BSS) transition scenario. The communication method comprises: sending a request frame to a first access point (AP), the request frame being used for triggering a response frame to be sent, and a station being not associated with the first AP; receiving the response frame from the first AP, the response frame comprising a first transmission power at which the response frame is sent; determining a downlink received signal quality; and sending the first transmission power and the downlink received signal quality to a second AP, wherein the first transmission power and the downlink received signal quality are used for decision-making of BSS transition, the second AP is associated with the station, and the first AP and the second AP belong to a same extended service set. In this way, the efficiency of BSS transition of an AP associated with the current station can be improved.
