Abstract: The present application provides a communication method and a communication apparatus. A terminal device can determine an SRS resource group identifier on the basis of a determined first report configuration, and can determine the number m of SRS ports on the basis of the SRS resource group identifier; the terminal device can send a first report, wherein the first report is determined on the basis of the first report configuration, the m SRS ports, and Q ports, and Q is greater than m. That is, the terminal device can send an SRS by means of the m ports, the situation in which many time-frequency resources need to be occupied when the Q ports are used for sending the SRS is avoided. Moreover, the network device can determine channel information of the Q ports on the basis of the first report and channel information of the m ports, estimate an uplink channel on the basis of the channel information of the Q ports, and estimate a downlink channel on the basis of the uplink channel, so as to determine a pre-coding matrix for downlink transmission on the basis of the estimated downlink channel, thereby improving the downlink pre-coding capability.
