Abstract: Provided in the present application are a communication method and apparatus, which are used for solving the problem of the energy-saving effect being poor caused by a DRX terminal device detecting an SSB. The method comprises: receiving SMTC configuration information, wherein the SMTC configuration information comprises a cycle duration of an SMTC window and a start position of the SMTC window; and determining a cycle duration of a DRX on the basis of the cycle duration of the SMTC window, and determining a start position of the DRX on the basis of the start position of the SMTC window. In the embodiments of the present application, an SMTC window and a DRX are indicated in an associated manner, such that a network device can use unified parameters to configure the SMTC window and the DRX, thereby avoiding the overheads caused by multiple times of RRC reconfiguration.
