Abstract: The present application discloses a communication method and apparatus, which can be applied to a receiving end to receive a reference signal from a sending end in a frequency hopping mode. The method comprises: a network device sends a reference signal within a first time unit in a first frequency hopping unit, wherein the first frequency hopping unit comprises the first time unit and a first switching time, the first time unit is used for transmitting the reference signal, and the first time unit and the first switching time do not overlap in time domain; and a terminal device receives the reference signal within the first time unit. By means of the method, a terminal device receives a reference signal from a network device in a frequency hopping mode, so that the waste of reference signal resources can be reduced; and the reference signal from the network device can be received by means of multiple frequency hopping, so that the receiving bandwidth of the received reference signal is larger.
