Abstract: The present application relates to the technical field of communications, and provides a communication method and an apparatus, which are used for determining, when two PTRS ports correspond to two MCSs, time domain densities corresponding to the two PTRS ports. In the method, if two PTRS ports correspond to two MCSs, for example, a first MCS and a second MCS, a first time domain density corresponding to a first PTRS port may be determined on the basis of the first MCS and/or the second MCS indicated by a network device, and a time domain density corresponding to a second PTRS port may also be determined on the basis of the first MCS and/or the second MCS indicated by the network device. In this way, the terminal device can determine the first time domain density corresponding to the first PTRS port and the second time domain density corresponding to the second PTRS port, so that the terminal device subsequently sends a first PTRS on the first PTRS port and sends a second PTRS on the second PTRS port, thus improving the communication reliability.
