The application for the patent was published on October 09, 2026, under issue no. 41/2026.
Abstract: A combustion mode control system and method control constant speed dual-fuel compression ignition engine combustion mode by switching between dual-fuel mode to single-fuel mode when engine load transition occurs within a load range suitable for dual-fuel operation. When load transition occurs, the engine operating in dual- fuel mode is switched to single fuel mode, and the engine operates in the single-fuel mode for a suitable duration based on predefined conditions related to a position of a fumigated fuel flow control valve and the engine speed governor response time, and upon fulfilling these conditions the engine combustion mode is switched back to dual-fuel mode. With the method of the present invention, any engine operation instability due to incorrect proportions of the first fuel and the second fuel arising from the slow response of the fumigated fuel flow control valve is avoided, thereby achieving a smoother engine load transition.
