Abstract: A colorimetric blood age detection strip and method thereof, comprises of a strip body 101 comprising a strip substrate configured to be portable and usable at a crime scene, a plurality of color reference blocks representing a color corresponding to ageing of a bloodstain, a time indicia provide an estimated time since deposition corresponding to the respective color reference blocks, a calibration basis module extracts representative color values from the documented blood samples to create the plurality of color reference blocks, a comparison module wherein an unknown bloodstain is visually compared with the plurality of color reference blocks to determine an approximate time since deposition without chemically altering or consuming unknown bloodstain, an optional protective covering comprising a transparent laminate layer provided over the plurality of color reference blocks to reduce damage, contamination, and fading during field use, and a method for generating a calibrated colorimetric blood age detection strip.
