MUMBAI, India, June 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441096946 A) filed by Saint-Gobain Glass France on December 06, 2024, for Colored Article With Reflective Coating And Method For Producing Same.

Inventors include Anantha Padmanabha; Kumaresan Thangaraj; Keerthivasan S; and Mula Raju.

The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.

Abstract: The invention relates to a colored article, specifically a glass substrate, coated with a reflective silicon-carbon-based (C/Si) film. The film is applied using Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) technique, which allows precise control of the C/Si ratio and film thickness, thereby imparting varied reflective color properties to the article along with improved resistance to alkali degradation. The coating thickness ranges from 1 to 100 nm, and the C/Si ratio varies between 0.1: 1 to 0.6: 1. The invention also provides a method for producing such colored articles by depositing the C/Si coating onto a transparent substrate. This invention is applicable in industries such as construction, automotive, and consumer electronics, where both aesthetic and functional glass products are required.
