MUMBAI, India, Sept. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611083892 A) filed by Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University on July 08, 2026, for Color-Scale Absorbent Surgical Mat System For Real-Time Visual Estimation Of Intra-Operative Blood Loss.

Inventors include Ms. Nikki Yadav; Mr. Dayashankar Rastogi; and Ms. Reshu Yadav.

The application for the patent was published on September 04, 2026, under issue no. 36/2026.

Abstract: Disclosed is a color-scale absorbent surgical mat system for real-time visual estimation of intra-operative blood loss. The system comprises a surgical mat body adapted to be placed beneath an operative field, an impermeable backing portion forming a fluid-retaining underside, and an absorbent body supported by the impermeable backing portion to receive and retain blood. A distribution formation extends through at least a portion of the absorbent body to guide blood spreading according to a controlled saturation progression. A color-scale display region is provided along an upper surface of the surgical mat body and is arranged in fluid communication with the absorbent body to present visible saturation indications as blood advances through the absorbent body. A volume reference scale is associated with the color-scale display region to correlate the visible saturation indications with corresponding blood volume ranges without weighing, calculation, or electronic sensing.
