MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611072426 A) filed by Noida International University on June 11, 2026, for Collateral Circulation Device.

Inventors include Dipak Sethi; and Money Saxena.

The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.

Abstract: Collateral circulation refers to the alternate pathway of blood flow that develops when primary vessels are obstructed, serving as a natural compensatory mechanism in ischemic conditions such as peripheral artery disease, coronary artery disease, and stroke. Recent advancements in biomedical engineering have led to the development of collateral circulation devices designed to enhance or stimulate this process. These devices work by promoting arteriogenesis and angiogenesis through mechanical stimulation, pharmacological delivery, or bioengineered scaffolds. Examples include external counterpulsation systems, implantable microvascular flow enhancers, and targeted drug-eluting platforms. Clinical studies have shown promising outcomes such as improved tissue perfusion, pain relief, and reduced need for surgical revascularization. This abstract reviews the mechanisms, applications, and therapeutic potential of these devices, emphasizing their emerging role in the management of chronic vascular diseases. As research progresses, collateral circulation devices may offer a less invasive and more physiologically harmonious alternative for patients with limited conventional treatment options.
