Abstract: ABSTRACT COAXIAL STRUCTURAL BATTERY FILAMENT WITH MULTI-CHEMISTRY SOLID-STATE ARCHITECTURE A coaxial structural battery filament with fluoride-ion battery solid-state architecture comprises a Monel-CNT composite core for maximum specific strength, a La/Ce fluoride host anode in an anode-free configuration, a PVDF- PbSnF4-CaF2-AlF3 composite electrolyte with beta-phase stabilized PbSnF4, an AlF3 ceramic interlayer, an AlF3-coated CuF2 conversion cathode, and a FluorX- AlF3 composite outer braid with Monel wire mesh reinforcement. The fluoride-ion chemistry achieves 400-900 Wh/kg system-level energy density through high-capacity CuF2 conversion reactions at 3.4V average discharge voltage. The Monel-CNT core provides tensile strength of 600-800 MPa with specific strength of 120-180 MPa/(g/cm3), comparable to intermediate-modulus carbon fibers. The anode-free configuration eliminates heavy metallic anode mass, maximizing gravimetric energy density for weight-critical systems. This embodiment targets aerospace primary structures, defense satellites, and high-performance electric vehicles where maximum energy density and structural efficiency are critical optimization parameters. The solid-state design operates reliably across -20C to +60C without flammable liquid electrolytes, providing inherent thermal stability and safety for demanding long-duration mission-critical commercial aerospace and defense applications.
