MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641078478 A) filed by Mlr Institute Of Technology on June 25, 2026, for Cnt Reinforced Functionally Graded Laminated Plate System For Static Bending.

Inventor includes Mr. Moyya Sundeep.

The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.

Abstract: A functionally graded carbon nanotube reinforced composite laminated plate and a method for evaluating its static bending behaviour are disclosed. The invention employs carbon nanotubes distributed through the plate thickness using Uniform Distribution (UD) and Functionally Graded-X (FG-X) configurations. Effective material properties are determined by considering CNT volume fraction and efficiency parameters associated with load transfer between nanotubes and matrix material. A Higher Order Shear Deformation Theory (HSDT) formulation is utilized to model the displacement field, thereby eliminating the need for shear correction factors while satisfying transverse shear stress boundary conditions at the plate surfaces. Governing equations are derived through the principle of virtual work and solved analytically using the Naiver method for simply supported boundary conditions. The invention enables accurate prediction of transverse deflection, bending stiffness, and structural response under mechanical loading. Parametric studies demonstrate that increased CNT volume fraction and FG-X distribution significantly reduce plate deflection and improve structural performance. The invention is particularly suitable for aerospace, automotive, marine, civil engineering, and defence applications requiring lightweight, high-strength, and mechanically efficient composite structures.
