MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641100134 A) filed by Saveetha Institute Of Medical And Technical Sciences on August 19, 2026, for Cnc-Milled Cooling -Channel Crown.

Inventors include Keshav Rajesh; Harini K; and Deepak Nallaswamy Veeraiyan.

The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a dental ceramic blank for Computer Numerical Control (CNC) milling, comprising a sinterable ceramic body — preferably yttria- stabilised zirconia — pre-fabricated with an internal, sealed network of micro-channels. During the milling process on a suitably equipped CNC unit, the blank is connected to a closed-loop coolant circulation system. Coolant is circulated through the internal channels, absorbing and removing frictional heat directly from the core of the blank, maintaining a lower and more uniform temperature throughout machining. This active internal cooling reduces the incidence of thermally-induced subsurface micro-cracks, improves marginal accuracy of the final restoration, extends milling bur life, and enhances the overall structural integrity and predicted longevity of the milled crown or restoration.
