MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621059751 A) filed by Wavemill Energy LLP on May 11, 2026, for Closed-Section Blade With Wind-Channeling Guide Plates And Rotor Assembly For A Vertical-Axis Wind Turbine.
Inventor includes Apurv Maruti Jadhav.
The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: In wind energy conversion, known vertical-axis turbine blades admit wind passively into an undivided volume and leave the cross-section open, so stiffness and streamlining require added members contributing no torque. The blade (100) comprises a C-shaped curved shell (110) having concave inner (111) and convex outer (112) surfaces and an open face (113) between terminal ends (114, 115); a closing plate (120) spanning that face by shear-transmitting connections uninterrupted along the span axis (L), tying the terminal ends and enclosing a sealed structural cavity (116); and at least three guide plates (130) upon its outer face (122), spaced chordwise to define full-span wind-channeling gaps (133) bounding a wind-capture region (117). Graduated guide plate lengths trace a teardrop envelope. Each element channels wind, receives thrust, stiffens, and fairs, so rigidity, torque and streamlining need no dedicated members. A rotor assembly (200) carries such blades. Principal use: wind power generation.
