MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611088574 A) filed by K. R. Mangalam University on July 21, 2026, for Closed-Loop Waterless System And Method For Dyeing And Finishing Of Cotton Fabric.

Abstract: A closed-loop waterless dyeing and finishing system, a method and a bio-reactive dye composition for cotton fabric are disclosed. Along a continuous conveying path, an ozone treatment chamber activates the fibre without water, an electrostatic dry-dye deposition unit deposits charged dry dye onto the grounded fabric, a solvent- vapour activation chamber activates the dye, an infrared fixation unit fixes it, and a digital nano-spray finishing unit applies finishing agents. A closed-loop solvent recovery unit condenses and recirculates the solvent so the line operates substantially without aqueous effluent. The units are functionally interrelated and the bio- reactive dye composition bonds the pigment to cellulose without an aqueous dye bath, so the system dyes and finishes cotton with greatly reduced water and chemical use.
