MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611089925 A) filed by Chitkara University on July 23, 2026, for Closed-Loop Pharmaceutical Printer For Verified Compartmentalized Personalized Polypills.
Inventors include Dr. Sonia Dhiman; Dr. Shareen Singh; and Dr. Thakur Gurjeet Singh.
The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: A closed-loop pharmaceutical printer system (100) for fabricating verified compartmentalized personalized oral polypills is disclosed. The system includes a control unit (200), sealed active pharmaceutical ingredient and excipient cartridges (300), a cartridge authentication mechanism (400), a multi-material printhead (500), a compaction or curing module (600), and a release map generator (1000). The release map generator generates a machine-control compartment-release map defining compartment geometry, infill percentage, barrier layer thickness, dissolution channel diameter, material identity, print sequence, and compaction or curing settings for each active pharmaceutical ingredient micro-compartment (1500). An in-line verification subsystem includes an in-line balance sensor (700), a machine-vision inspection sensor (800), and a near-infrared content verification sensor (900). A quality-control rejection logic (1200) compares measured fabrication parameters with stored tolerances and blocks a pharmacist approval gate (1300) when non-conformance is detected. The invention provides hardware-linked fabrication, verification, rejection, and pharmacist-supervised release of personalized polypills. (Accompanied Figure No. 1 to 4)
