MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631093542 A) filed by Dr. Sumita Banerjee; and Dr. Saikat Mukherjee on August 01, 2026, for Closed-Loop Pediatric Sedation System With Autonomic Stress Assessment.
Inventors include Dr. Sumita Banerjee; and Dr. Saikat Mukherjee.
The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a closed-loop pediatric sedation system configured to continuously monitor physiological indicators of anxiety and automatically regulate delivery of a nitrous oxide–oxygen sedation mixture within predefined safety limits. The system comprises a wearable physiological monitoring unit configured to acquire heart rate variability, pulse rate, galvanic skin response, respiratory rate, body movement, and peripheral oxygen saturation, a processing module configured to compute a Composite Autonomic Stress Index (CASI), a stress grading module configured to generate a CALM-GradeTM stress grade, a closed-loop control module configured to determine a target nitrous oxide–oxygen concentration, an automated gas delivery unit, and a safety-governed control module configured to enforce predefined operating limits and fail-safe operation. The system further enables predictive anxiety assessment, clinician monitoring with manual override, and generation of time-stamped treatment records, thereby providing objective, personalized, and safety-governed pediatric sedation.
