MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511012542 A) filed by Dr. Panchali Batra on February 14, 2025, for Clamp For Positioning Fixed Orthodontic Retainers.

Abstract: Clamp (100) for positioning fixed orthodontic retainer, wherein the clamp (100) comprises two prongs (102, 104) that are joined via hinge (110) and activated by a spring force characterized in that distal end (102a, 104a) of the prongs (102, 104) of the clamp (100) is bent at an angle 90-120 degrees with respect to the longitudinal axis of the clamp (100), so that the clamp doesn’t interfere with the visibility or accessibility of the orthodontist. Further the distal end (102a) of the clamp (100) is provided with textured gripping surface to grip a fixed retainer wire (200) at the desired position at the back side of the teeth to hold and stabilize the fixed retainer at the desired place to apply composite to bond the fixed retainer at the desired position. The clamp (100) improves the accuracy and decrease the time spent in the positioning and fixing procedure of the fixed retainers (200) in orthodontic procedures.
