Abstract: The present invention discloses a chemical free paper produced from green wheat stems harvested during the vegetative growth stage between 25 and 75 days, through thermo-mechanical processing. The disclosed paper possess desirable physical and mechanical properties including basis weight, tensile index, tear index, burst factor, and moisture content, making it suitable for packaging, writing and printing, paperboard, and other purposes. The paper is manufactured by collecting green wheat stems harvested between 25 and 75 days, cutting the stems and subjecting them to hydrothermal pre-treatment in water at 50–60°C for 20–50 minutes, followed by thermo-mechanical refining using a refining apparatus to liberate cellulose fibers. The refined pulp is further screened, washed, and formed into paper sheets, which are then pressed, dried, and subjected to surface finishing operations to obtain finished paper products.
