Abstract: The present subject matter discloses an electric vehicle (200) and charging connector level architecture to support both AC and DC charging for higher current ratings on a connector (100) such as a type-7 connector. The present subject matter discloses a solution with backward compatibility and still increasing the current carrying capacity at the connector level. This is achieved by adding two additional terminal pins (102, 104) in parallel to the existing DC+ and DC- terminals (106, 108), respectively. These 2 additional pins (102, 104) are included as part of the already proposed AC pins (for Line and Neutral) (102, 104).
