MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511113993 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Kanpur on November 19, 2025, for Charge Switchable Nanoparticles And Method Of Preparation Thereof.
Inventors include Katti, Dhirendra S.; Teki, Nikhil Sai Veerabhadra; and Zaidi, Zahra Sifat.
The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a charge switchable nanoparticles is comprised of: a chitosan coated mesoporous silica nanoparticle having exposed surface primary amino groups; and a functional group is conjugated to said primary amino groups present on the surface of the chitosan coated mesoporous silica nanoparticle via amide bonds, wherein the charge switchable nanoparticles exhibits a tunable charge switchability at a pH ranging 1.5 to 6.5. The present disclosure also relates to a method of preparation of a charge switchable nanoparticles comprising: a) taking a chitosan coated mesoporous silica nanoparticle; b) suspending the chitosan coated mesoporous silica nanoparticle in a solvent to obtain a solution; c) mixing the functional group compound with the solution of step b) to obtain a mixture; and d) isolating the mixture by centrifugation and washing to obtain a charge switchable nanoparticles.
