Abstract: Film-forming mucoadhesive sprays represent an innovative class of oral- wound-care systems capable of delivering therapeutic agents directly to mucosal surfaces while simultaneously providing mechanical protection. They share core functional advantages of biocompatibility, adaptability to moist oral environments, and controlled release properties, yet offer distinct benefits over conventional periodontal dressings or stents, including improved retention, comfort, and patient compliance. Their dual role—as both protective barriers and localized drug delivery vehicles—makes them highly suitable for post-surgical care in periodontal applications. Centella asiatica, a medicinal plant with a long history of therapeutic use, possesses welldocumented wound-healing, angiogenic, and anti-inflammatory properties. When integrated into a film-forming spray platform, its bioactive compounds can be delivered in a sustained manner directly to palatal donor sites, which are particularly vulnerable following connective tissue graft (CTG) or free gingival graft (FOG) harvest. The resulting mucoadhesive film conforms to the irregular palatal surface, resists salivary washout, and provides both a physical bather against trauma and a localized therapeutic effect. The invention relates to a Centella-based film- forming mucoadhesive spray designed for graft site management, wherein the formulation preserves its structural integrity, adhesion, and bioactivity under oral conditions. Potential applications include periodontal wound healing, postoperative pain reduction, infection control, enhancement of re-epithelialization, and accelerated tissue regeneration.
