MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641101660 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Chennai on August 22, 2026, for Cementitious Composite And Method Of Preparation Thereof.

Inventors include Lekhashree R; Sivayogaraj A; and Elavenil S.

The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.

Abstract: A cementitious composite and method of preparation thereof is provided. The cementitious composite includes Portland cement, treated Municipal Solid Waste Incineration Bottom Ash (MSWIBA) as a partial replacement of cement, and silk cocoon waste fibre (SCWF) as natural fibre reinforcement. The cementitious composite provides synergistic interaction between the MSWIBA-modified cementitious matrix and SCWF reinforcement, wherein the MSWIBA contributes to matrix development while the SCWF provides crack bridging, toughness and flexural reinforcement. The cementitious composite may be formed into cement paste, mortar, concrete, blocks, tiles, pavers, panels, repair materials and other construction products. The disclosure enables simultaneous valorisation of municipal and sericulture waste while reducing dependence on conventional cementitious materials and synthetic reinforcement and providing improved crack resistance, mechanical performance and sustainability.
