Abstract: ABSTRACT CATOP’s (Canonical Assessment of Tongue’s Orthopedic Pressure) POSTULATE WITH ALIGNER EMBEDDED SYSTEM 5 The present invention relates to the field of orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics and, more particularly, to an aligner-embedded tongue pressure assessment system for measuring tongue- generated forces during resting posture and swallowing. The system comprises at least one ultra-thin force sensing resistor (FSR) 10 embedded within a dental aligner, an electronic circuit for detecting resistance variations caused by tongue pressure, and a processing unit configured to convert the detected signals into pressure measurements. The sensor is strategically positioned within the aligner, preferably at a region corresponding to the natural resting 15 position of the tongue tip near the incisive papilla, enabling accurate assessment of tongue orthopedic pressure. The system is capable of distinguishing static resting tongue pressure from dynamic swallowing pressure and provides reliable, repeatable, and sensitive measurements without substantially affecting patient comfort or 20 aligner fit. Calibration mechanisms are employed to correlate sensor outputs with actual force values, thereby improving measurement accuracy. The invention facilitates orthodontic evaluation, myofunctional assessment, dentofacial orthopedic analysis, treatment planning, and monitoring of craniofacial growth patterns. The 25 aligner-embedded configuration offers a compact, cost-effective, clinically feasible, and minimally invasive alternative to conventional tongue pressure measurement systems.
