Abstract: The present invention relates to a cathode material and a preparation method therefor, the cathode material comprising: a first cathode active material, which is in the form of a secondary particle obtained by aggregation of a plurality of primary particles, contains nickel, cobalt, and manganese, with 70 mol% or more of nickel among the total metals, and has a first average particle diameter (D50); and a second cathode active material having a second average particle diameter (D50) different from the first average particle diameter (D50), wherein the first cathode active material has an average aspect ratio of 0.86-0.94, which is the arithmetic average value of the aspect ratio defined by Equation 1 below, and an average compactness of 0.89-0.96, which is the arithmetic average value of the compactness defined by Equation 2 below.
