Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure relate to category-based paging for wireless communications. A user equipment (UE) for wireless communications receives a set of one or more paging control channel (PCCH) configurations, wherein each PCCH configuration of the set of one or more PCCH configurations is associated with a corresponding paging category of a set of one or more paging categories. The UE also receives a paging message during a paging occasion (PO) in accordance with a PCCH configuration of the set of one or more PCCH configurations, wherein the received paging message corresponds to a paging category of the set of one or more paging categories.
