Abstract: ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION: This invention relates to the fabrication of a ZnO/BaO/rGO ternary nanocomposite with Cassia auriculata flower extract rather than harmful chemicals. ZnO and BaO nanoparticles are first synthesized separately using the extract before being mixed with readily procured reduced graphene oxide (rGO) via hydrothermal treatment to generate the final nanocomposite. To determine the structure and content of the nanocomposite, XRD, FTIR, UV-Vis DRS, SEM, and EDX are used. Potentiodynamic polarization (PDP) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) confirm its superior corrosion inhibition efficiency for mild steel in 1 M hydrochloric acid, outperforming individual ZnO and BaO nanoparticles due to synergistic adsorption and enhanced protective film formation. This idea offers a low-cost, environmentally sustainable approach to creating a nanocomposite that efficiently shields mild steel from acid-induced corrosion.
