MUMBAI, India, July 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521045680 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Gandhinagar on May 12, 2025, for Carbon Quantum Dots Based Film And A Process For Its Preparation.

Abstract: ABSTRACT CARBON QUANTUM DOTS BASED FILM AND A PROCESS FOR ITS PREPARATION The present disclosure relates to a film comprising Mangifera indica derived carbon quantum dots dispersed in a biopolymer matrix. The film of the present disclosure effectively inhibits the growth of bacteria and other microorganisms and helps to increase the shelf life of food, exhibits potent antioxidant and antibacterial properties, and provides protection against foodborne pathogens. The film has UV blocking capacities that shield packaged products from harmful radiation. The film has improved elastic strength and elastic modulus, is more durable and flexible for sustainable packaging solutions, and can be used for food packaging and food preservation. The process for the preparation of the carbon quantum dots based film is simple, economical, and environmentally friendly.
