MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611086572 A) filed by Noida Institute Of Engineering And Technology Niet on July 15, 2026, for Carbon-Aware Request Orchestration System And Method For Per-Request Emission Estimation And Disclosure.
Inventors include Dr Poornima Tyagi; and Dr Preeti Gera.
The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.
Abstract: A carbon-aware request orchestration system (100) and method for estimating, disclosing and acting upon per-request energy consumption and carbon dioxide equivalent emissions in networked computing environments is disclosed. The system comprises a request ingress gateway (110), a feature extraction module (120), an energy estimation engine (130) evaluating offline-calibrated endpoint-specific models from a model registry (132), a carbon intensity acquisition module (140), a cloud billing integration module (150), a carbon-aware load balancer (160), a disclosure header generation module (170) and a carbon budget enforcement module (180). Estimated per-request emissions are disclosed through standardized response headers, reconciled against metered cloud billing data to derive correction factors, and utilised for routing requests to server nodes selected on a composite carbon-latency score, thereby enabling verifiable, low-overhead, request-granular environmental accountability without production power telemetry.
